Topic:

The US withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the 2015 multilateral accord intended to curtail Iran’s nuclear program, makes its future uncertain. Are there lessons from that negotiation and other international efforts to stop Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons that offer a guide to future steps? Two distinguished participants in such efforts will examine the question in the Garfield Spring Seminar.

Panelists Include:

Laura Kennedy, served for nearly 40 years with the U.S. Foreign Service. She was Ambassador to Turkmenistan, U.S. Permanent Representative to the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva, and U.S. representative to the United Nations in Vienna.

Valerie Lincy is the Executive Director of the Wisconsin Project on Nuclear Arms Control. She leads the organization’s research on weapons of mass destruction supply networks, which is used by governments to support sanctions and counter-proliferation actions.
