After four summers, Frank finished the 2,200 miles of the Appalachian Trail.  Each of the first three summers were cut short by injury, but Frank persevered and completed the last 300 miles of Vermont, New Hampshire, and 60 miles in Maine to join the relatively small number of hikers who have completed the whole trail.

In Memoriam: Don Cline

Posted By Corinne A. Cline, Tuesday, January 7, 2020
Don Robert Cline died peacefully at home in Andover, New Hampshire on September 20, 2019 after a nine-month battle with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. He was born August 7, 1949 in Ravenna, Ohio to James Cline and Adelle (Beard) Cline.

He was a 1971 graduate of Hiram College. Upon moving to New Hampshire, he worked as a videographer and producer at Creativideo, Inc. He was a stained glass restoration expert and the owner of Cline Conservators. He restored stained glass windows for many area churches, historical buildings and private homes. Some of his work can be seen at Castle in the Clouds, St. Paul’s School and St. John’s Church. He later joined his wife’s company, Cline Design, where he worked with commercial construction companies throughout North America.

Don was a man of many talents. He was an avid bagpiper and served as President of the New Hampshire Pipes and Drums. He was a woodworker, boatbuilder, sailor, world traveler, excellent cook, lover of history, and photographer.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Lorraine, of Andover, NH; daughters Corinne Cline of Bow, NH and Meredith Cline of Penacook, NH; brother David Cline of Littleton, Colorado; sister Shirley Cline of Garrettsville, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Oreofe Odeji, Dr. Sharyn Kurtz and the many nurses and interns of Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women’s Hospital who cared for Don during his illness. In addition, the Lake Sunapee Region VNA and Hospice team, as well as Chrystal Hill and many dear friends and neighbors, provided much-needed love and support in Don’s final weeks.

Nathan Yaussy '08

Posted By Administration, Monday, November 18, 2019

Nathan Yaussy is a ninth and tenth grade biology and life science teacher at Fairport Harding Early College High School in Fairport Harbor, Ohio. At an all-school assembly for what was supposed to focus on the school’s early college model, Nathan was caught completely by surprise when State Superintendent of Public Instruction Paolo DeMaria joined National Institute for Excellence in Teaching CEO Dr. Candice McQueen to present him with the Milken Educator Award and its $25,000 cash prize. Nathan is the sole Ohio recipient of the 2019-20 Milken Educator Award this season and the first from the district.

The Milken Educator Awards was conceived by the Milken Family Foundation to attract, retain and motivate outstanding talent to the teaching profession. It is the nation’s preeminent teacher recognition program, hailed as the “Oscars of Teaching” by Teacher magazine. For more than three decades, the Milken Family Foundation has devoted over $140 million in funding to the Milken Educator Awards, including $70 million in individual Awards to more than 2,800 recipients plus powerful professional learning opportunities and networking with leading education stakeholders.
