Evelyn Boeson '67 was the featured artist for a solo exhibit of fiber art for the month of August at the Ashtabula Arts Center in Ashtabula,  Ohio. In the exhibit named, "Fabric Speaks" 53 pieces were displayed.

Laura Crawford ('67) Obituary

In grief, I report that my beloved wife of 44 years, Laura C. Larlham, nee Crawford, Class of 1967, lost her years-long battle with Multiple Sclerosis at 9:30 Sunday morning, December 18, 2011, just five days before our 44th anniversary.  Our children, Matthew (July 31,1971) and Elizabeth (July 2, 1977), and our grandchildren (Elizabeth's boys Jacob, 14 and Nathaniel, 5) will miss her dearly.

Nathaniel Koven ('06) has recently started a new career at Harvard Business School, where he now works in Executive Education. Additionally, he is the co-founder of the Harvard Theater Awards (recognizing excellence in student theater) and a regular columnist for one of Harvard's student magazines.

Randall Dearth '86 was recently inducted by the Champion Alumni Association for his academic achievements after high school. Now Dearth is president/CEO of LANXESS Corporation, a global chemical manufacturer in Pittsburgh. He was president/CEO of Bayer Chemicals Corporation before 2004. He also serves on several boards including the Warhol Museum Board and the Carnegie Musuems Board.

Maryam has been selected as a 2011-2012 August Wilson Center Fellow. Established in 2009, the annual cash awards support the needs of African American artists and artists of African descent living and working in Southwestern Pennslyvania. The August Wilson Center for African American Culture in Pittsburgh presents the Fellowship.

Peggy married Joseph L. Sinclair on August 6, 2011 in Petalum, California.  Peggy met Joseph, an Englishman and a Oxford College graduate while backpacking in South East Asia with Maggie Parks '06. Allison Welch '07 conducted the ceremony as the vicar. In attendence at the wedding were Hiram graduates Anne Burrows '05, Allison Welch '07, Maggie Parks '06, Jessica O'Brien '06, Zach Huggin '05, and Jessica Grave '06.

News from Paco Labrador '95

Paco Labrador '95 enrolled in graduate school at Miami University to study sports psychology. While at Hiram he played club volleyball, but didn't consider coaching until he found a student assistant coaching job at Miami. Paco recieved his first head coaching job in 2003 when Wittenberg hired him. After leading the Tigers to their first national championship, he was named the NCAA D-III Coach of the Year for the 2011 season.
