|Andrew Currie is a fund-raising consultant and a founder and Managing Partner of Currie, Ferner, Scarpetta & DeVries, LLP. Since 1967, he has fulfilled senior management and consulting responsibilities for institutions and organizations throughout the country, including pre-campaign studies, strategic planning and financial analysis, fund-raising counsel, campaign supervision, governing board and volunteer leadership development, and staff training. He has served as a consultant to campaigns that have achieved over a billion dollars in gifts and grants.
Prior to forming Currie, Ferner, Scarpetta & DeVries in 1987, Currie was President and Chief Operating Officer of C. W. Shaver & Company, a national fund-raising consulting firm with regional offices in New York, Minneapolis, Boston, Atlanta, Palo Alto, and Washington D.C. Earlier, Currie served as Acting Director and Director of Development and Planning of the Akron Art Institute, and as Director of Alumni Relations and Development of Hiram College.
Currie earned a BA from Hiram College, a Masters from Purdue University, and a Ph.D. from The Ohio State University. He has been a frequent speaker at national and regional conferences on capital campaigns and long-range financial planning, and has taught masters degree courses in fund-raising/capital campaigns at St. Mary's University in Minnesota.
Recently, Currie served as Chair of the Minnesota Humanities Commission and the One Percent Club (those who give one percent of their assets to charity). He is a former trustee and member of the executive committees of Hiram College and Shattuck - St. Mary’s School, and board member of the New Dance Ensemble and the Fairway Foundation. In addition, he was a board member and Commodore of the White Bear Yacht Club, a 118-year old golf and sailing club in Dellwood, Minnesota.
